Redscan is proud to share the news that Mark Nicholls, our Director of Cyber Security, has been named a winner in the second annual SC Media Reboot Leadership Awards.

Mark joins a select group of honourees to be praised for their outstanding work and innovation in the field of cybersecurity, earning distinction in the category of Threat Seeker – which recognises individuals who excel at uncovering and addressing threats and vulnerabilities.

In being chosen to receive an award, Mark impressed the SC Media judges with his expertise conducting intelligence-led ethical hacking engagements, particularly across the financial services sector, where he helped to inform the development of the CBEST security assessment framework. Mark’s expertise simulating insider threats and work within host-based forensics also drew praise.

“Threats presented by malicious hackers, cybercriminal groups and advanced nation-states have become increasingly sophisticated, but our 2018 Reboot winners continue to rise to the challenge every day,” said Teri Robinson, Executive Editor, SC Media.

“We at SC Media have witness many impressive achievements in cybersecurity in the past year. But Mark has truly distinguished himself through his valuable contributions, which continue to advance the industry as it grows in both size and importance”

Ensuring the ongoing effectiveness of Redscan’s services

In his role at Redscan, Mark is dedicated to fostering close collaboration between Redscan Labs, our ‘red team’ ethical hackers and our ‘blue team’ cyber security operations centre (CSOC) analysts. By applying his knowledge of scenario-based testing, he also helps to improve the effectiveness of ThreatDetect, Redscan’s managed detection and response service, to swiftly identify and shut down breaches.

“Mark’s knowledge and experience in offensive security has been hugely important in enabling organisations, particularly those within the financial services industry, to understand and improve their cyber resilience”, says Mike Fenton, CEO at Redscan.

“In an ever-evolving threat landscape, Mark is vital to ensuring that Redscan’s threat hunting, detection and response capabilities are continually optimised. We’re delighted that his talent and achievements have been recognised by the SC Media judges.”
